The 5-year-old Kentucky-bred out of the Stormy Atlantic mare Ocean Goddess was purchased for $320,000 by Barbara Banke's Stonestreet Stables at the 2014 Ocala Breeders' Sales March 2-year-olds in training sale. He made his first start in the Stonestreet colors for trainer Kiaran McLaughlin in a $60,000 maiden special weight at Aqueduct Racetrack in December, scoring a 4 1/4-length victory under Irad Ortiz Jr. He came back with Ortiz aboard six weeks later at Tampa Bay Downs to capture the grade 3 Sam F. Davis Stakes.
Later in the season, Ocean Knight finished third in the Discovery Handicap (G3) at Aqueduct, and at 4, he placed third in the Kelso Handicap (G2) at Belmont Park. He concluded his career with earnings of $390,000 and a record of 4-3-2 from 15 starts.
Ocean Knight's dam, Ocean Goddess, was bred by Arthur Appleton at Bridlewood Farm and sold for $270,000 at the OBS March sale in 2007. Her current 2-year-old by Pioneerof the Nile , named Nero, was purchased for $950,000 at the 2016 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga select yearling sale by Stonestreet and M.V. Magnier.
At Get Away Farm, Ocean Knight joins the millionaire Petionville stallion Two Step Salsa , sire of the multiple grade 1 winner Dance With Fate. He will stand for $5,000 in 2018.
Get Away's other stallion, Drill , is a multiple graded stakes-winning son of Lawyer Ron; he will stand for $4,500 and his first crop will run in 2018.
Ocean Knight's stud fee has been set at $4,000, stands and nurses.
Get Away Farm welcomes breeders to attend their annual open house and stallion presentation at the farm Dec. 16, from noon to 3 p.m. The program includes lunch, refreshments and drawings for complimentary seasons.
