Japanese Buyers Go to $3 Million for Catch a Glimpse

Canadian Horse of the Year and millionaire sold to K I Farm.

Catch a Glimpse, a multiple Canadian champion and 2015 Canadian Horse of the Year, was purchased by Japan-based K I Farm for $3 million during the Nov. 6 Fasig-Tipton November sale.

The 4-year-old daughter of City Zip was trained by Mark Casse for Gary Barber, Mike Ambler, and Windways Farm (Jeff and Annabel Begg) and was consigned by Bluewater Sales as Hip 157.

Catch a Glimpse won seven graded stakes and earned more than $1.8 million. At 2, she captured the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1T) at Keeneland, and at 3 she won the Belmont Oaks Invitational Stakes (G1T). Along with Canadian Horse of Year honors as a 2-year-old in 2015, she earned champion 2-year-old filly and champion grass female honors in the country that year.

Catch a Glimpse is a half sister to grade 3 winner and sire Old Forrester. She was bred in Kentucky by Branch Equine out of the stakes-winning Irish River mare Halo River, and was a $75,000 Keeneland September yearling purchase by Windways from Warrendale Sales.

Murayama Bloodstock represented K I Farm, which outbid another Japanese entity, Shadai Farm, for the filly.

"She looked great and she was sold well above the reserve," said Bluewater's Meg Levy. "There was a tremendous amount of interest. She was a Horse of the Year in Canada and those things carry a lot weight. She showed herself well."
