Coolmore Stud has set the fee for entering-year dual group 1 winner Caravaggio at €35,000 (approximately $40,625), according to an Oct. 30 announcement of 2018 fees for most of the farm's Irish sires.
"We are delighted to have three very exciting new prospects for the coming season and are very much looking forward to seeing Churchill and Highland Reel run at the Breeders' Cup on Saturday," said David O'Loughlin, director of sales, in a statement. "Mindful of the fact that breeders are keen to get on with their mating plans we have set the fees for all of the others, including Scat Daddy's brilliantly fast son Caravaggio, and we think they offer excellent value for money."
Caravaggio is a five-time group winner who won the Keeneland Phoenix Stakes (G1) last year and preserved a six-race undefeated streak through June of 2017 in the Commonwealth Cup (G1) at Royal Ascot. The 3-year-old colt won three of six starts this year and ended the season with a third in the QIPCO British Champions Sprint Stakes (G1). Caravaggio is out of the black-type winner Mekko Hokte (by Holy Bull) and is a half brother to grade 2 winner My Jen (Fusaichi Pegasus ).
