Tapit Yearlings Among Fasig-Tipton Hips to Watch

Hips to watch during the Oct. 23 session of Fasig-Tipton October sale.

A colt and a filly by Gainesway's leading sire Tapit  are among the horses to keep an eye on during the Oct. 23 opening session of the Fasig-Tipton October yearling sale. The auction in Lexington begins at 10 a.m. daily through Oct. 26.

Bred and consigned by Gainesway, Hip 131 is a chestnut filly from the winning Kingmambo mare Raffishing Look, also the dam of three-time grade 3 winner Winning Cause. Raffishing Look is a half sister to Society Hostess, a grade 3 winner in the U.S. who was a stakes winner in Germany and stakes-placed in Ireland. The female family also includes grade/group 1 winners Twilight Agenda, Refuse to Bend, Media Puzzle, and Rich Tapestry.

Also bred by and consigned by Gainesway, Hip 144 is a half brother to Palace , winner of two grade 1 stakes who earned more than $1.5 million. Receivership, the bay colt's dam, is a daughter of End Sweep who earned $198,300 and is a half sister to grade 2 winner French Park, the dam of grade 3 winner Genre.

A bay colt from the first crop of Flashback , the son of Tapit who won the Robert B. Lewis Stakes (G2) and finished second in the Santa Anita Derby (G1), Hip 184 was bred in Kentucky by FPF and is offered by Taylor Made Sales Agency. Out of the Red Ransom mare Rougeoule, the colt descends from a family that includes multiple grade 2 winner and sire Souvenir Copy, as well as grade 2 winner Dance Sequence and Japanese stakes winner Shake Hand.

Also from Taylor Made is Hip 227, a bay son of Candy Ride  who is the first foal out of the Bernardini  mare Secret Jewel, a half sister to Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Turf (G1T) winner Shared Account and to grade 3 winner Colonial Flag. The colt was bred in Kentucky by Three Chimneys Farm and Besilu Stables.

Another yearling to watch during Monday's session is Hip 339, a chestnut Ghostzapper  colt consigned by Adena Springs, which bred him in Ontario. The colt is out of Street Dancer, an unraced Street Cry mare who is a half sister to millionaire grade 1 winner Mr Speaker . The colt's third dam is champion and Broodmare of the Year Personal Ensign, the dam of grade 1 winners My Flag, Miner's Mark, and Traditionally.
