The 2-year-old colt, ridden by Shaun Bridgmohan for trainer Brad Cox, was well back early and settled toward the inside before getting out to make his bid in the $40,237 maiden special weight. He kicked clear in the final yards and held off the late rally of Eclipsed Moon, finishing in 1:36.60 on a course rated firm. Off at odds of 5-1, he returned $13.60 to win.

Out of the winning Forest Wildcat mare Sunlight Cat, Fort Wise Treaty went through the sale ring twice before beginning his racing career. First he was a $117,000 purchase by Redwings from the Blue Water Sales consignment at the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky 2016 select yearling sale. Then he sold for $170,000 from the Wavertree Stables consignment at the Ocala Breeders' Sales' April 2017 spring sale of 2-year-olds in training, where he was purchased by Alistair Roden Bloodstock.

Janis Whitham's homebred Fort Larned , a 9-year-old son of E Dubai—Arlucea, by Broad Brush, stands at Adena Springs Farm near Paris, Ky., where his 2017 fee was $7,500 live foal stands and nurses. He counts the 2012 Breeders' Cup Classic (G1) among his 10 wins, three of them grade 1 events, for trainer Ian Wilkes.
