Liaison Gets First Winner with Vicente's Shadow

Vicente's Shadow won first time out at Emerald Downs June 18.

Spendthrift Farm's freshman sire Liaison , the grade 1-winning son of Indian Charlie, had his first winner June 18 when Vicente's Shadow overcame a troubled start and rallied in the stretch to win a 4 1/2-furlong maiden special weight by one length at Emerald Downs.

Ridden by Eswan Flores, Vicente's Shadow steadied soon after the start, advanced three wide around the far turn, and was up in the final strides to win his career debut impressively for trainer Blaine Wright. The final time was :51.53.

Bred in Kentucky by Machmer Hall, Vicente's Shadow was purchased for $18,000 at the 2016 Keeneland September sale by Gordon Twilegar out of the Select Sales consignment. The gelding is now raced by Steven and Gordon Twilegar.

Vicente's Shadow is the third foal and second winner out of Bronxgirl, a winning daughter of Corinthian. Bronxgirl is a half sister to multiple graded-placed winner Join in the Dance (Sky Mesa ).

Liaison won or placed in nine stakes, six of them graded. At 2 he won the $750,000 CashCall Futurity (G1) and at 4 he captured the Mervyn LeRoy Handicap (G2). He retired with $767,288 in earnings. Liaison is the first stakes winner produced by Galloping Gal, a multiple stakes-winning Victory Gallop mare.
