Firenze Fire First Winner for Poseidon's Warrior

Poseidon's Warrior  was represented by his first winner June 18, when his son Firenze Fire won a five-furlong maiden special weight at Monmouth Park by 3 1/2 lengths.

Making his first start for trainer Jason Servis, Firenze Fire stalked the pace set by Phonemyposseagain through the turn and then gained a short lead in the stretch before pulling away to win in a time of :58.37. Phonemyposseagain held on for second.

Bred in Florida by his owner Mr. Amore Stable, Firenze Fire is out of the Langfuhr mare My Every Wish, who placed second in both of her only two starts.

Poseidon's Warrior was one of the first stallions to stand at Joe and Helen Barbazon's Pleasant Acres Stallions near Morriston, Fla., entering stud in 2014. He was also the first son of champion sprinter and prominent sire Speightstown  to stand in the state. 

Out of the Smarten mare Poised to Pounce, Poseidon's Warrior is a half-brother to stakes winners Quick 'n Smart and Play Bingo.

On the track, Poseidon's Warrior won at first asking in 2010 as a 2-year-old. He went on to win the 2012 Alfred G. Vanderbilt Handicap (G1) at Saratoga Race Course, defeating grade 1 winners Justin Phillip , Emcee , and Shackleford . With a record of 7-2-4 from 21 starts, he earned $701,147.

In 2017 Poseidon's Warrior stood for a fee of $6,500.
