Jon Court Hits 4,000-Win Milestone

Rode City Without Pity to Turfway Park score.

Jockey Jon Court, 56, scored the 4,000th win of his career when he guided Erik Orantes' City Without Pity to victory in Turfway Park’s fourth race Dec. 3 for trainer Karyn Wittek (VIDEO).

The 3-year-old Florida-bred City Place filly led all the way in mile race on the all-weather track, and won by 8 3/4 lengths.

Born in Gainesville, Florida, Court began his career in 1980 in Colorado. He spent a dozen years riding in Louisiana before moving his tack to the Kentucky and Indiana circuits. He moved again in 2004 to California, where he was among riders featured on the television show Jockeys. He returned to the Midwest in 2009.

The winner of numerous graded stakes, Court counts 2011 Arkansas Derby (gr. I) winner Archarcharch, 2003 Japan Cup Dirt (JPN-I) winner Fleetstreet Dancer, multiple graded stakes winner Perfect Drift, 2005 Eclipse Award champion turf male Leroidesanimaux, 2013 champion 3-year-old Will Take Charge , and 2014 Preakness Stakes (gr. I) runner-up Ride On Curlin  among his top mounts.

Court has twice served as secretary of the Jockeys’ Guild, and in 2007 was honored with the George Woolf Award.
