Padua Stable's Bohemian Lady got a much better start than she did in her previous outing and easily disposed of five rival 3-year-old fillies Saturday in the $109,100 Cicada (gr. III) at seven furlongs.

Sitting just behind longshot She's A Mugs, who set a wind-aided paced of :22 and :44 3/5 on Aqueduct's "good" main track, the Carson City filly simply bided her time until jockey Edgar Prado gave her the go. That came at the quarter-pole, and Bohemian Lady responded with a 6 ½-length victory in 1:23 1/5.

"The last time (second to Whoopi Cat in the Dearly Precious), she stumbled and had to rush up," said Seth Benzel, assistant to trainer Todd Pletcher. "Today, she broke pretty well. Edgar (Prado) was able to get her into a stalking position. It looked like he had plenty of horse. When he asked her, she really kicked home."

Added Prado: "She broke fast and stayed fast and won fast. And that's it. She handled the track beautifully. She did it handily."

The Dearly Precious was Bohemian Lady's only loss in four starts. She earned $65,460 for Saturday's win, bringing her career purse winnings to $132,145.

Whoopi Cat, the Cicada post-time favorite, was second. It was the second place finish for trainer Patrick Biancone, who also ran second with Pomeroy to Saratoga County in the day's featured Gotham (gr. III).

"She's coming around nicely and slowly," Biancone said. "She ran a good race, the winner was just too good. We'll take it step by step. I think we will have a good horse for Saratoga."

Baldomera, Whirlwind Charlott, Freeroll and She's A Mugs trailed.

Earlier in the day, trainer Tony Dutrow was forced to scratch Peter Angelos' undefeated Among My Souvenirs from the Cicada when she developed an abscess in her right-front hoof

Bohemian Lady paid $5.10, $2.90 and $2.40. Whoopi Cat returned $2.80 and $2.40. Baldomera's show was $2.80. The $2 exacta was worth $9.10.
