Songbird Works at Santa Anita, Target Unknown

Trainer Jerry Hollendorfer does not have a race picked out for the filly's comeback.

Fox Hill Farms' undefeated Songbird worked five furlongs in 1:00 on Santa Anita Park's fast main track shortly after daybreak May 29 with exercise rider Edgar Rodriguez aboard.

As for Songbird's comeback, following a low-grade fever that knocked the daughter of Medaglia d'Oro out of the Longines Kentucky Oaks (gr. I), trainer Jerry Hollendorfer indicated no race was written in stone.

BALAN: Songbird Out of Kentucky Oaks

"I don't have an agenda for her," Hollendorfer said. "We're taking it one work at a time."

Songbird, the champion 2-year-old filly of 2015, has been an easy winner of all seven of her races, including the Santa Anita Oaks (gr. I) April 9.

Santa Anita clocker Dane Nelson had fractional times for Songbird of :24 and 48 1/5, with a six-furlong gallop-out in 1:13 1/5.

"She galloped out good," Hollendorfer said.
