Fastest OBS Under Tack Times Equaled

The third under tack session resulted in horses equaling the fastest times set the previous two days.

The third day of six under tack show workout sessions leading up to the Ocala Breeders' Sales Company's April spring sale of 2-year-olds in training resulted in horses equaling the fastest times set during the previous two days.

Held April 13 at OBS's training center near Ocala, Fla., the third under tack session resulted in three colts equaling the eighth of a mile fastest time of :09 4/5 and five juveniles sharing the fastest time of :20 3/5 for a quarter mile.

The one-furlong :09 4/5 workers were Hip 422, a Gio Ponti  colt from Eisaman Equine; Hip 481, a High Cotton  colt from Halcyon Hammock Farm's consignment; and Hip 524, a Yes It's True colt  consigned by Craig L. Wheeler.

The Gio Ponti colt was bred in Kentucky by Eico Stable and is out of Wings of Gold, by Mineshaft , a daughter of stakes winner and graded stakes-placed Vision in Flight.

Hip No. 481 is a dark bay or brown colt out of Angelic Amanda, by Hennessy, and is a half brother to graded stakes-placed Show Me the Bling. He was bred in Florida by Dr. Rick Erwin and Janet Erwin and was acquired by H.H., as agent, for $15,000 at the 2015 OBS August yearling sale.

Hip No. 524, consigned by Craig L. Wheeler, was produced from the Grand Slam mare Battingstar and is from the family of graded stakes winner Falling Sky. He was bred in Florida by Thomas Groves and Craig Wheeler.

The quarter-mile fastest times were put in by Hip 428, a Maclean's Music colt from the Eddie Woods consignment; Hip 429, a Wildcat Heir colt from Brent and Crystal Fernung's Journeyman Bloodstock; Hip 445, a filly by Old Fashioned consigned by Blue River Bloodstock; Hip 491, an Exchange Rate filly from Greg and Karen Dodd's Southern Chase Farm; and Hip 599, an Into Mischief  colt offered by Thoroughbred Champions Training Center.

The Maclean's Music colt was bred in Kentucky by Hill 'n' Dale Equine Holdings and was purchased by Gary K. Tussey for $35,000 from the Hill 'n' Dale consignment to the 2015 Keeneland September yearling sale. He is a half brother to stakes-placed Leprechaun Kid out of stakes winner Wonderful Luck, by Trust N Luck.

Bred in Florida by the Fernungs, the Wildcat Heir colt named Teddy Bear is out of Wontoo, by Montbrook, a half sister to stakes-placed Wonone.

The Old Fashioned filly is a half sister to graded stakes placed Mystery Girl out of A B C Amanda, by Alphabet Soup, and was acquired by Blue River for $16,000 from the St. George Sale offerings at the 2014 Keeneland November sale.

The Exchange Rate filly is out of Arcing, by Arch, a daughter of graded stakes placed Pertuisane and was bought by Webb Carroll Training Center for $12,000 at last year's Fasig-Tipton Kentucky October yearling sale.

The Into Mischief colt is out of Casa Lima, by Limehouse , a half sister to graded stakes-placed stakes winner Honolua Storm and was a $40,000 Keeneland September yearling sale purchase by Jaime Mejia.

The under tack show for the April 19-22 auction continues through Saturday, April 16.
