The first reported foal for Uncaptured , Canada's Horse of the Year of 2012, is a filly born Jan. 3 at J. Michael O'Farrell Jr.'s Ocala Stud Farm.
A multiple graded stakes-winning millionaire by Lion Heart—Captivating, by Arch, 6-year-old Uncaptured will stand for a 2016 fee of $6,000 stands and nurses at Ocala Stud.
Uncaptured won six of seven starts as a juvenile, including the Iroquois (gr. III) and Kentucky Jockey Club (gr. II), both at Churchill Downs, and a trio of stakes at Woodbine. He was the first juvenile since 1984 to win Horse of the Year honors in Canada. As a 3-year-old he was a Canadian classic winner with a victory in the Prince of Wales Stakes at Fort Erie. He retired from racing with $1,065,147 in earnings.
Bred and owned by Ocala Stud, the dark bay or brown filly is out of the Proud Citizen mare Western Tornado, a half sister to multiple grade I winner Critical Eye.
"The filly is very nice. We hope all of the Uncaptureds are stamped like this one," O'Farrell said. "He's a tremendous physical himself, and obviously had the talent and class to go with it, so we have high hopes. Uncaptured bred a very good book of mares, and we're excited about the arrival of his first crop."
