Outright Buck made every pole a winning one in taking the $69,000 Fair Grounds Sales Stakes Sunday at Fair Grounds.
Ridden by Robby Albarado, the 3-year-old daughter of Kissin Kris
broke alertly from the rail and sprinted clear, showing the way uncontested through a half mile in 48. On the far turn, favored Silver Indy put in his closing bid, but could not catch Outright Buck, who kicked on in the stretch to prevail by 3 3/4 lengths in 1:39 1/5 for one mile on the dirt.
The stakes win was the Florida bred's first, improving her career earnings to $44,160 for trainer Troy Young and owner Valene Farms, who owned three participants in the event restricted to horses purchased through the Fair Grounds 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale last March. The entry paid $4.40 to win.
