Peace Burg Withdrawn From Keeneland Sale

6-year-old mare produced a filly from 2015 mating with War Front.

Peace Burg, listed in the catalog as the only mare at the Keeneland January horses of all ages sale in foal to leading sire War Front , has been withdrawn after producing a filly from that mating.

Peace Burg had been bred to War Front on a last cover of Feb. 17, 2015.

Consigned by Paramount Sales, the 6-year-old, group II-winning Peace Burg was expected to be one of the top offerings at the auction in Lexington that runs Jan. 11-15. A French-bred daughter of Sageburg, Peace Burg won four of 15 starts, including the Prix de Sandingham (Fr-II) and Prix d'Aumale (Fr-III).

Paramount managing partner Pat Costello said the decision by the mare's owner to withdraw her after she produced her filly was unfortunate "because she was a big one for us for the sale."

Costello said he did not have details of when the filly was foaled.

Consigned by Paramount to last year's Keeneland November sale, Peace Burg did not attain her reserve price on a final bid of $1.2 million.

She had been acquired by Mandore International Agency for $1,202,093 from the European Sales Management consignment to the 2013 Tattersalls March sale.
