TCA Stallion Season Auction Underway

Culminates Jan. 9 with Select Stallion Season Auction at Keeneland.

The 26th annual Thoroughbred Charities of America Stallion Season Auction began Jan. 4, offering stallion seasons, experiences, halters, and other auction items. 

The six-day fundraiser opens with an online auction and culminates with a Select Stallion Season Auction Jan. 9 at 6:30 p.m. EST at the Keeneland Entertainment Center in Lexington.

The majority of TCA's seasons will be offered and sold during the online auction. Online bidding continues through Friday, Jan. 8 at 5 p.m. EST. Telephone bids will be accepted on Friday, Jan. 8 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. EST. More than 200 seasons representing stallions in 15 states are available in the auction. Ten select seasons and all non-season items will be sold in the live Select Season Auction. Bidders or their authorized agents may bid on the select seasons by attending the live auction or they may bid on select seasons during the online phase with the highest bidders earning the right to bid by phone during the live auction. For bidders that cannot attend the live auction but are interested in non-season items, absentee bidding is available.

The Select Season Auction will offer seasons to Blame , Bodemeister , Candy Ride , Carpe Diem , Curlin , Into Mischief , Medaglia d'Oro  (offered with a free return in 2017 should a live foal not be produced), Malibu Moon , Super Saver , and Speightstown .

All seasons will be sold on a no guarantee basis unless otherwise noted.

In addition to the seasons, the live auction will include a John Deere riding mower, African safari, equine air transportation from H.E. Tex Sutton, a two-year lease on a 2016 Dodge Ram Crew Cab or 2016 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, shadowboxed halters worn by Tapit , Orb , American Pharoah , California Chrome , and Beholder

A silent auction will also be offered. All non-season items will also be available for bidding during the online auction with absentee bidding available at the live auction event. The Select Season Auction will be hosted by Tom Durkin and include music by The Wooks. Bourbon Lane Stable and The Jockey Club's Thoroughbred Incentive Program will be honored with TCA's annual Allaire duPont Leadership and Industry Service awards.
