Prado Taken to Hospital After Being Unseated

Hall of Fame rider had no major injuries, but said he was very sore.

Hall of Fame jockey Edgar Prado was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital complaining of chest soreness after being unseated from his mount, Legs Like Betty, at the start of Gulfstream Park's seventh race Dec. 13. Prado had no major injuries, but said he was very sore, according to a release from the track.

Breaking from the outside post in the 7 1/2-furlong maiden turf sprint, Legs Like Betty bolted to the outside fence and dumped the 48-year-old Prado before jumping the temporary outer rail onto the main track, according to track reports. After getting up, the 2-year-old filly ran to the top of the stretch before being caught by outriders.
