Son of Lethal Force Tops Tattersalls Day 2

Gross, average, and median all increased from comparable session in 2014.

First-season sires continued to be popular during a strong Day 2 of the Tattersalls December foal sale.

The session was topped by a son of freshman sire Lethal Force that sold for 110,000 guineas to Mick Flanagan. He was consigned by Ian and Kathryn Hutchinson's Battlefield Stud and is from the family of dual Oaks winner Sariska.

"We put a partnership together for this horse—a few of us from Britain and Ireland have pooled resources on him," Flanagan said. "We knew he'd go well; when we did our lists last night he jumped out at us."

Gross for 179 horses sold on Day 2 was 2,592,600 guineas, up from 2,504,100 guineas for 204 sold during the comparable session in 2014. Average rose to 14,484 guineas from 12,275 guineas, while median was steady at 9,500 guineas versus 9,250 guineas last year.

The foal sale continues Nov. 26.
