Rockridge Stud Announces 2016 Fees

New York farm stands state's leading 2-year-old sire Giant Surprise.

Lere Visagie's Rockridge Stud, located near Hudson, N.Y., has announced their stud fees for 2016. Five of their eight stallions will stand for $5,000 live foal stands and nurses.

Giant Surprise , Honorable Dillon , and newcomer Micromanage  have made headlines in 2015 and all will stand for $5,000 along with Posse, New York's leading sire of 2012, and Trinniberg .

Giant Surprise, by Giant's Causeway , is the leading sire of 2-year-olds and the leading first-crop sires in New York. With two stakes winners led by $266,300 earner Sudden Surprise, Giant Surprise ranks seventh nationally on the first-crop sire list by progeny earnings. His eight runners have earned $550,949 (through Nov. 5). His fee gets a bump from the $2,500 he stood for last year.

Honorable Dillon, a grade II-winning son of Tapit , covered a state-leading 170 mares while standing at Rockridge last year for the same $5,000 fee.

Micromanage, a multiple stakes-winning son of Medaglia d'Oro  raced by Repole Stables, is standing his first season in 2016.

HAMMONDS: Micromange to Rockridge

Also new to Rockridge for 2016 is Midas Touch, a group II-winning son of Galileo, who will stand for $3,500. The 6-year-old previously stood at War Horse Place near Lexington.
