Liebman Named Editor of Frankfort, Ky., Paper

Former Blood-Horse editor began journalism career at The State Journal.

Dan Liebman, former editor-in-chief of The Blood-Horse magazine, has been named editor of The State Journal newspaper in Frankfort, Ky., effective in mid-January 2013.

Liebman, 53, succeeds Carl West, who is retiring effective Jan. 31 as editor of the newspaper located in Kentucky's capital.

A Frankfort native who began his journalism career at The State Journal, Liebman also owns Staxx BBQ. In addition to serving as editor from October 2007 until November 2009, Liebman also was director of research and executive editor during his 17 years at The Blood-Horse.

Prior to joining the The Blood-Horse, Liebman was the Midwest deputy editor for The Racing Times from 1991-93, and was a columnist for the Kentucky bureau of Daily Racing Form from 1984-1991.
