Trainer Todd Pletcher welcomes the déjà vu he's feeling going into this year's Breeders' Cup Sprint (gr. I) after Rock Fall won the $400,000 Vosburgh Stakes (gr. I) Sept. 26 at Belmont Park. With his seventh straight victory and second straight grade I score, Rock Fall will enter the $1.5 million Sprint Oct. 31 at Keeneland on a roll. In 2004 Pletcher won the Sprint with Speightstown , sire of Stonesetreet Stables' Rock Fall.
"There are a lot of similarities between him and his sire and the way they train," Pletcher said. "You wouldn't necessarily know they're as good as they are. In the mornings he can be a little idle, but you just have confidence that come game time he'll show up."
Also turning heads Saturday was former claimer Salutos Amigos, who lost three or four lengths early when squeezed back, but finished second by a neck to the winner. He finished seventh in last year's Sprint.
