Hollywood Gold Cup Field Taking Shape

Richard Mandella trainee Out of Mind worked at Hollywood Park Wednesday in preparation for a likely start in the $1-million Sempra Energy Hollywood Gold Cup (gr. I). The 1 1/4-mile race will be run at Hollywood Park July 9.

Allen and Madeline Paulson's K One King, sixth in both the Pimlico Special (gr. I) and Stephen Foster Handicap (gr. II) in his two most recent starts, is also being pointed to the race. The 4-year-old son of Apalachee won the Oaklawn Handicap (gr. I) in impressive fashion in April.

Pat Day will be reunited with Cat Thief in the Gold Cup after choosing to ride Ecton Park in the Stephen Foster. Others listed as likely for the race include David, Big Ten, Chester House, Early Pioneer, and General Challenge.
