The Bill Mott-trained Buffalo Berry rallied to earn a half-length win in Saturday's $100,000 Reeve Schley, Jr. Stakes (gr. IIIT) at Monmouth Park. With Aaron Gryder in the irons, Buffalo Berry completed the 1 1/16-mile race for 3-year-old fillies in 1:40.93 over a firm turf course.Mi Moochie finished second, 3/4-lengths ahead of Laurica. Zing, Secretsinthesky, Dysham, Dare to Cope, and T.N.T. Red completed the order of finish.As a juvenile, Buffalo Berry raced in Ireland, where she won the Entrepreneur Cork Stakes by five lengths and finished third in the Heinz 57 Phoenix Stakes (Ire-I). Transferred to Mott's barn for her sophomore campaign, the bay daughter of Sri Pekan won her North American debut, the Bal Harbour Stakes, in April at Gulfstream Park. In May, she finished fourth in the Revidere Stakes. Buffalo Berry was bred in Ireland by Orpendale, the co-breeder of Saturday's Coral-Eclipse Stakes (Eng-I) winner Giant's Causeway. She won $60,000 for owner Kathy Jo Stable with the win, her fourth in eight starts.
