Scatter the Gold To Run for Canadian Triple

Sam-San Farm's Scatter the Gold was installed as the 4-5 morning-line favorite to win the Breeders' Stakes Saturday at Woodbine. A win over the six other 3-year-olds entered in the 1 1/2-mile turf race would earn son of Mr. Prospector a sweep of the Canadian Triple Crown, duplicating the feat of his mother, 1991 Canadian Triple Crown winner Dance Smartly.

Scatter the Gold is trained by Mark Frostad and will be ridden by Todd Kabel. He was winless before sweeping to a 4 1/4-length victory in the Queen's Plate Stakes, the first jewel of the Canadian Triple Crown. He followed that with a neck decision over For Our Sake in the Prince of Wales Stakes in July. Scatter the Gold has raced on turf on one previous occasion, finishing second by a neck to Breeders' Stakes rival Master Stuart in a Woodbine maiden race in June.

The field for Saturday's Breeders' Stakes will be:
1--Allende, Na Somsanith, 126, 15-1
2--Pete's Sake, Patrick Husbands, 126, 10-1
3--For Our Sake, Robert Landry, 126, 8-1
4--Scatter the Gold, Todd Kabel, 126, 4-5
5--Master Stuart, Constant Montpellier, 126, 7-2
6--Lodge Hill, Mike Smith, 126, 6-1
