Theresa's Tizzy Just Lasts in Rancho Bernardo

Theresa's Tizzy rushed to the early lead under Laffit Pincay Jr., dueled with Hookedonthefeelin after that rival assumed a narrow lead, regained the lead in the stretch, and held off the late rush of Nany's Sweep to win the $150,000 Rancho Bernardo Handicap (gr. III) by a neck. The 6-year-old daughter of Cee's Tizzy -- out of Theresa's Pleasure, by Greenwood Star -- completed the 6 1/2 furlongs in 1:16.23 over a fast track Saturday at Del Mar. Hookedonthefeelin finished third, followed by Olympic Charmer, Strawberry Way, and Trying Ty.

Theresa's Tizzy was established as the narrow favorite and returned $5.80, $3.80, and $2.40. The $1 exacta returned $28.70.

Theresa's Tizzy was bred in California by Lester W. Smith and is trained by Noble Threewitt. She earned $90,000 for the win, her 14th in 32 career starts. Other stakes victories for Theresa'a Tizzy include the Desert Stormer Handicap and the Corona Handicap, both six-furlong sprints at Hollywood Park. (Chart, Equibase)
