Baffert Saddles Two in Del Mar Debutante

Trainer Bob Baffert has saddled four of the last five Del Mar Debutante winners and sends out two of the six 2-year-old fillies entered in this year's renewal of the $250,000 grade I race. In Saturday’s seven-furlong event, Baffert sends out Notable Career and recent maiden winner Beauty and Style.

Notable Career has two wins from four career starts, including a one-length win over fellow Debutante entrant Sea Reel in the Landaluce Stakes (gr. III). A 3/4-sister of General Challenge, the Golden Eagle Farm homebred finished second to Euro Empire in her most recent start, the restricted California Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association Stakes.

Euro Empire is also entered in the Debutante, as is Sorrento Stakes (gr. II) winner Give Praise. The field is completed by Cindy’s Hero, a David Hofmans-trained maiden.

In post position order, the field for the Del Mar Debutante will consist of:
1—Beauty and Style, Kent Desormeaux, 115
2—Euro Empire, Alex Solis, 119
3—Notable Career, David Flores, 119
4—Sea Reel, Victor Espinoza, 113
5—Give Praise, Laffit Pincay Jr., 119
6—Cindy’s Hero, Garrett Gomez, 113
