Jockey Radke Misses Mounts After Spill

Jockey Kevin Radke was hospitalized after a spill during the first race of the Bay Meadows meeting Friday night, causing the rider to miss his remaining Friday mounts, and all of his scheduled Saturday mounts. The jockey suffered bruises and a sore neck in the mishap but plans to resume riding on Sunday.

After the incident, Radke complained of neck pain and was taken to San Mateo County Hospital, where he was released after tests, including two CAT scans, proved negative.

Radke was thrown to the track after his mount, Lille Bargeotte, clipped heels with Boonville Blondie, the eventual second-place finisher in the five-horse field. Boonville Blondie was disqualified from second by the stewards and declared an unplaced runner, meaning she earned no purse money. On Saturday, the stewards gave jockey Jason Lumpkins a 10-day suspension for failing to maintain a straight course and causing the interference .

The 5 1/2-furlong $8,000 maiden claiming race was won by the longest price on the board, 17-1 Crystal n' Reign.
