Craig Dollase Suspended for Albuterol Positive

Stephen G. Herold's Abby Girl lost her graded stakes-winning black type and trainer Craig Dollase has been suspended 15 days and fined $2,500 as a result of a positive test for the Class III drug Albuterol (a nasal spray used to aid breathing) following the 3-year-old Meadowlake filly's first-place finish in the Railbird Stakes (gr. II) at Hollywood Park on May 20. The ruling against Dollase was issued on Thursday by the board of stewards at Del Mar. It followed a previous ruling disqualifying Abby Girl from the win.

Abby Girl finished a nose ahead of Cover Gal, a Falstaff filly who has been credited with the victory. Owner Herrold loses the $90,000 first-place prize money, which has been redistributed. Dollase's suspension runs from Sept. 13-27. Abby Girl has not raced since the Railbird. Dollase, the son of trainer Wallace Dollase, is a high percentage conditioner in Southern California who has won 23 of 79 starts this year. His biggest career win came in the 1998 Breeders' Cup Sprint (gr. I) with Reraise.
