Bonnie is Named to Equine Drug Council

Ned Bonnie, the Louisville, Ky., attorney with a background in equine medication issues, has been named to Kentucky's revitalized Equine Drug Council by Gov. Paul Patton. Another new appointee to the council is Dr. William Baker, a veterinarian from Versailles, Ky.

Bonnie and Baker replace Carol Hebel and Dr. James (Fred) Arnold, respectively, on the panel. The other members were reappointed: Dr. James Flesher, Dr. James Sautter, Robert Stallings, Sam Bowie, Rick Hiles, and Alice Chandler.

The Equine Drug Council began meeting regularly this year after Frank Shoop was named chairman of the Kentucky Racing Commission. During a question-and-answer session with the Kentucky Thoroughbred Media Sept. 6, Shoop made no mention of changes on the drug council but did say medication issues are a priority for the commission.
