Chilukki, Flame Thrower, Others Work at Del Mar

Last year's champion 2-year-old filly Chilukki worked five furlongs at Del Mar on Friday as she prepares for her next likely start, the $150,000 Kentucky Cup Sprint (gr. II). The Stonerside Stable's runner completed the distance in :59 1/5 seconds, handily. Besides the Bob Baffert trainee, others listed as probable for the Kentucky Cup Sprint are Bevo and Millencolin. The race is a six-furlong event for 3-year-olds to be run Sept. 16 at Turfway Park.

Another Baffert trainee, Best Pal Stakes (gr. III) winner Flame Thrower, worked five furlongs in the same time as Chilukki. The 2-year-old son of Saint Ballado, unbeaten in two career starts, will be ridden by Jerry Bailey when he races next in Wednesday's $250,000 Del Mar Futurity (gr. II). Others likely for the seven-furlong Futurity are Street Cry, Glorious Bid, High Cascade, Arabian Light, Revelling, Squirtle Squirt, and Trailthefox.

Eduardo Inda trainee Riboletta, and Super Quercus also worked at Del Mar Friday. Riboletta, Aaron and Marie Jones' 5-year-old daughter of Roi Normand, completed her five-furlong drill in 1:01 1/5, handily. Super Quercus went six furlongs in 1:14 4/5 over the fast main track. Super Quercus, a Bobby Frankel trainee, has yet to start since winning the Early Times Hollywood Derby Stakes (gr. IT) by two lengths over Manndar at Hollywood Park last November.
