Windfields Farm will be agent for Stavro's grade 1 winner Schossberg, who has been standing at stud at Windfields in Oshawa, Ontario. Schossberg, a son of Broad Brush, won the 1995 Philip H. Iselin (gr. I) and Jerome Handicaps (gr. I) and earned over 496,000. He has sired six winners from two small crops.
Steve Stavro's Knob Hill Stables will sell five of its best mares and one stallion at the Keeneland November Breeding Stock sale Nov. 5-18. Stavro, a Toronto businessman who is in the midst of closing down his popular Knob Hill Farms grocery store chain, is reportedly scaling down his Thoroughbred operation and has already sold his current stakes winning mare Saorise to David and Ginger Mullins (of Doninga Farm near Lexington), who will own the mare in partnership with William Steiden and William Butler.The mares in Stavro's Keeneland consignment will be sold by Three Chimneys Farm as agent. Saorise's dam Apelia, the champion sprinter in Canada in 1993 who is in foal to Silver Deputy, heads the consignment. Also selling is Alexandrina, a stakes winning daughter of Conquistador Cielo, who produced last year's Canadian Horse of the Year and grade 1 winner Thornfield. She will sell in foal to Forestry. Grade III stakes winner Petrouchka, a daughter of Red Ransom, sells in foal to Breeders' Cup Classic winner Awesome Again and stakes winner Zadracarta is offered in foal to Touch Gold. Lady Aloma, a stakes winning daughter of Cozzene and the dam of stakes winner Karra Kul, is to be sold in foal to El Prado.
