Online Sales Company Plans Mock Auction

Equine Spectrum plans to conduct a "mock auction" on Dec. 1 to give buyers, sellers, and agents an opportunity to test the online system in a simulated environment, according to Tom Biederman, Equine Spectrum executive director.

"We want to ensure that everyone is comfortable with the system before our first auction on December 13," Biederman said. "As with any new venture, people will have questions and we want to make sure all of those are answered."

While prospective bidders can participate online from any location, Biederman said Equine Spectrum would have a live demonstration and reception in Lexington, Ky. on Dec. 1. He said there would be computers on-site for use by prospective bidders and others wanting to see the demonstration.

Equine Spectrum also announced that eight new or established stallions have been added to the list of 2001 nominations that will be offered during the Dec. 13 auction. With the addition of the eight--Charismatic, Dixieland Band, Grand Slam, Gulch, High Yield, Lemon Drop Kid, Swain, and Unbridled's Song--Equine Spectrum now has at least 21 seasons that will be offered in the sale.

Equine Spectrum was formed by five breeding farms and sales agencies to offer year-round bloodstock transactions via the Internet at
