More Than Ready Retired

Will enter stud for $25,000 live foal at Vinery Kentucky.

Millionaire More Than Ready has been retired from racing and will enter stud for $25,000 live foal at Vinery Kentucky near Lexington. More Than Ready, who concluded his racing career with a fourth-place effort in the Nov. 25 Cigar Mile Handicap (gr. I) at Aqueduct, is scheduled to arrive at the farm on Nov. 30.

Vinery entered an agreement this summer to purchase an interest in 3-year-old More Than Ready from owner James Scatuorchio following the colt's racing career. More Than Ready continued to race solely for Scatuorchio, and ended his career with seven wins from 17 starts and earnings of $1,026,229. He won his first five races, and his career stakes wins came in the King's Bishop (gr. I), Hutcheson (gr. II), Sanford (gr. II), Tremont (gr. III), WHAS-11, and Flash Stakes. In the 5 1/2-furlong Tremont at Belmont Park, he set a track record of 1:02.56.

More Than Ready (Southern Halo -- Woodman's Girl, by Woodman) also placed in the three grade I stakes -- the Toyota Blue Grass, Vosburgh, and Futurity Stakes -- and ran fourth in the Kentucky Derby (gr. I). Scatuorchio retained a 10% interest in More Than Ready.
