Breeders' Cup Distaff champion Spain, trained by D. Wayne Lukas, will be the starting highweight at 123 pounds for Saturday's grade I La Brea Stakes at seven furlongs. Joining Spain in the starting gate will be the Bob Baffert-trained Chilukki, 1999 Juvenile champion filly and the undefeated Serenita, conditioned by Bobby Frankel. Trainer Vladimir Cerin will take a shot with Penny Blues. "I ran her once at Oak Tree and she ripped a shoe off," said Cerin. "It wasn't a very good experience for her but she's good now."
