Tricky Elaine Returns to Stakes Company in Santa Ysabel

Tricky Elaine, a daughter of Kentucky Derby (gr. I) winner Grindstone and half-sister of champion Favorite Trick, will attempt to win her second career race in Saturday's Santa Ysabel Stakes (gr. III) at Santa Anita. Trained by D. Wayne Lukas for Padua Stable, Tricky Elaine will be racing around two turns for the first time in the 1 1/16-mile race for 3-year-old fillies.

In two stakes attempts after breaking her maiden at Churchill Downs in June, Tricky Elaine finished third in the Debutante (gr. III) and a well-beaten sixth in the Adirondack (gr. II), the latter on a sloppy track at Saratoga. She was then given some time off before returning to race in two sprints, finishing third in one and second in the other. Her combined margin of defeat in those two races was less than one length. Victor Espinoza will be in the irons.

The field for the Santa Ysabel will consist of:

1--Eminent, Jose Valdivia Jr., 115, 9-2
2--Skywriting, Ignacio Puglisi, 115, 4-1
