Dixie Union (Dixieland Band -- She's Tops, by Capote) won seven of 12 starts and earned $1,233,190. His grade I wins came in the Haskell Invitational Handicap (gr. I) and Malibu Stakes (gr. I).
Grade I winner Dixie Union, who entered stud this year at Gerald Ford's Diamond A Farms near Versailles, Ky., as the property of a syndicate managed by William S. Farish's Lane's End Farm, has been relocated to Lane's End near Versailles. To date, Dixie Union has eight mares in foal. The decision to relocate 4-year-old Dixie Union was made in order to facilitate breeding him at 12-hour intervals as recommended by Lane's End stallion veterinarian Kirk Shiner. In a statement, Dr. Shiner said, "Dixie Union's morphology indicates an abundance of immature sperm cells present. By spreading his mares out over 12-hour intervals, it will help to maximize reproductive efficiency of spermatogenesis, I believe this to be a relatively common condition in young stallions and would anticipate ascendance to normal fertility throughout the remainder of the season."
