The addition of Dollar Bill brings the prospective Preakness field back up to 11. With Pat Day remaining on Dollar Bill, Nick Zito will have to find a rider for A P Valentine.
Dollar Bill, this year's hard-luck horse, will run in the Preakness Stakes if he works well at Churchill Downs Sunday or Monday, trainer Dallas Stewart said Friday. The son of Peaks and Valleys, who has gained fame this spring by having his own website, was forced to take up sharply in the Kentucky Derby, finishing a distant 15th as the 6-1 second choice. Dollar Bill also encountered bad luck in the Louisiana Derby, almost falling on his head after clipping heels turning for home."We'll see how he breezes," Stewart said. "If everything goes well, we'll fly to Baltimore on Wednesday."
