Despite chilly, overcast weather on Saturday, opening day of Monmouth Park's 72-day season, the Oceanport, N.J., racetrack drew a total of 52,349 patrons for its three-day Memorial Day weekend. Total wagering on Monmouth racing, both on-track and at simulcast outlets, topped $13 million."This was a great weekend, and the quality of racing we presented was truly outstanding," said Bob Kulina, Monmouth's vice president and general manager. "This bodes well for the rest of the meet."
