Silver Tornado Wires Reeve Schley Field

Harry V. Quadracci's Silver Tornado remained undefeated after posting a 1 1/4-length victory in Saturday's $100,000 Reeve Schley Jr., Stakes (gr. IIIT) at Monmouth Park. Silver Tornado completed the 1 1/16 miles in 1:42.70 on a turf course rated good.

"She broke out of the gate so fast, by the time we came out of the chute she was three in front," winning jockey Jose Ferrer said. "I was just trying to get her to slow down and relax on the lead."

Silver Tornado earned $60,000 for her fourth win in four career starts and returned $7, $4.40, and $2.10. The Reeve Schley was her first start on turf and her first race around two turns. Silver Tornado (Maria's Mon--Silvery Swan, by Silver Deputy) is trained by Linda Rice and was bred in Kentucky by Needham/Betz and Thoroughbreds Inc. and Rob Whiteley.

Marq of Beauty finished second and paid $4 and $2.10. 7-10 favorite Platinum Tiara finished third and returned $2.10. Haitian Vacation and The Goddess Athird completed the order of finish. (Chart, Equibase)
