Lailani Heads Dunlop-Trained Exacta Finish in Irish Oaks

Supplemental entrant Lailani remained undefeated on the year, winning the Kildangan Stud Irish Oaks (Ire-I) by a neck over fellow Ed Dunlop trainee Mot Juste on Sunday at the Curragh. Under Frankie Dettori, the 3-year-old daughter of Unfuwain completed the 1 1/2 miles in 2:30.5 over good turf.

While Dunlop-trained fillies filled the top two finishing positions, Sadler's Wells-sired fillies – Karsavina and Sequoyah -- finished third and fourth. Lime Gardens, Time Away, Rebelline, Chamela Bay, Rose Gypsy, Relish the Thought, Fantasy Royale, and Snowflake completed the order of finish.

The win marks the fifth on the year from five starts for Sheikh Maktoum al Maktoum's Lailani, and her first in a group stakes. Lailani was winless in two starts as a juvenile, but earned her maiden win in April while making her first start as a 3-year-old. Out of Lailati, by Mr. Prospector, Lailani was bred in Great Britain by Gainsborough Stud Management Ltd.
