First KRC Informational Hearing to be July 24

The first in a series of three Kentucky Racing Commission informational hearings on the state of Kentucky's horse racing and breeding industry will be held Tuesday, July 24 in Fort Mitchell, Ky.

The hearing is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. (EDT) at the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce on Buttermilk Pike in Fort Mitchell.

Representatives of horsemen's groups and Kentucky racetracks are expected to discuss several issues at the informational hearing, including the impact of the mare reproductive loss syndrome on Kentucky horse farms, the need to improve facilities at Kentucky racetracks, continued expansion of gaming competition in neighboring states, and increased competition for horses with tracks in other states.

Subsequent hearings are scheduled in Bowling Green on Aug. 7 and in Louisville on Aug. 29.
