Cashier's Dream will try to keep her undefeated record intact in the $150,000 Adirondack Stakes (gr. II) for 2-year-old fillies Monday at Saratoga.
Cashier's Dream -- undefeated in three career starts, all at Churchill Downs -- will likely be the favorite for the 6 1/2-furlong race. Carrying 122 pounds, including Donnie Meche, the Michigan-bred speedster will concede from 5-to-7 pounds to her six rivals. Cashier's Dream has proven versatile as well as fast. She has won on the lead and from off the pace. She set a track record at Churchill Downs for 5 1/2 furlongs in the Debutante Stakes (gr. III).
"Her dimension is that she is extremely fast," trainer Steve Asmussen said. "None of us expected the kind of effort she put in in the Debutante and, when she won it, the thought was 'Yeah, let's go to Saratoga and see what she can do there.'"
Dogwood Stable's Smok'n Frolic could provide Cashier's Dream's toughest competition.
Smok'n Frolic has won two of four lifetimes starts including an impressive score in Belmont Park's Fashion Stakes. After breaking through the gate before the Astoria Stakes in her most recent start, she rallied to finish second.
The field for the Adirondack will consist of:
1--Cashier's Dream, Donnie Meche, 122, 8-5
2--Lost Expectations, Jorge Chavez, 115, 8-1
3--Smok'n Frolic, Jerry Bailey, 117, 9-5
4--You, Edgar Prado, 115, 4-1
5--Magic Storm, John Velazquez, 115, 15-1
6--I Will Survive, Pat Day, 115, 15-1
7--Maresha, Jose Velez Jr., 115, 12-1
