A Field of Six to Contest Del Mar Debutante

A field of six 2-year-old fillies will take the post in Sunday's $250,000 Del Mar Debutant (gr. I), going seven furlongs on the seaside oval's main track.

Sorrento Stakes (gr. II) victress Tempera, who is conditioned by Eoin Harty for Godolphin Racing, leads the field. Tempera won the Sorrento by nine lengths at 6 1/2 furlongs and gave Harty his first stakes victory at the seashore.

Sorrento rivals Respectful, trained by J. Eric Kruljac, and Roaring Blaze will be looking to even the score in the Debutante.

Bob Baffert will saddle Habibaty, who broke her maiden at Del Mar at first asking. Trainer Bruce Headley will saddle Who Loves Elena, who finished third behind Georgia Storm and Respectful in Hollywood Park's Landaluce Stakes, and Mike Mitchell will tighten the girth on Lil Miss Hollywood, who he claimed in her maiden victory at Del Mar.

Habibaty and Lil Miss Hollywood will have to be supplemented to the race at a fee of $10,000 each.

Lil Miss Hollywood punched her ticket with a sharp five-furlong work on Tuesday in :58.60.

Also working the same distance on Tuesday were Tempera (:58.40) and Habibaty (:59.80).
Respectful had her final tune-up for the race this morning (Wednesday) with a :36.80 three-furlong blowout for Kruljac. Roaring Blaze put up her final work for the race on Monday, going a half-mile in 48 seconds flat.
