Millionaires Top Palomar Field

Millionaires Tranquility Lake and Tout Charmant head a field of seven fillies and mares in Saturday's grade II, $150,000 Palomar Handicap at 1 1/16 miles over Del Mar's Jimmy Durante Turf Course.

Trained by Julio Canani for Mr. and Mrs. Martin Wygod, Tranquility Lake will be seeking her second straight win in the Palomar and her second victory of the meet. After finishing second in the grade I Ramona Handicap on the turf on July 21, the 6-year-old daughter of Rahy won the grade II Clement Hirsch Handicap on the main track

With 10 wins, six seconds and three thirds in 24 starts, Tranquility Lake will seek to add to her bankroll of $1,473,390 as carries co-high weight of 123 pounds, with regular rider Eddie Delahoussaye, aboard.

The Palomar will mark the first start of the year for Tout Charmant, who hasn't started since winning the grade I Matriarch Stakes at Hollywood Park last Nov. 26. She has earnings of $1,576,704 gleaned from seven wins, nine seconds and a third in 22 lifetime starts for Robert and Janice McNair's Stonerside Stable and trainer Ron McAnally.
