Mangurian, Stronach Win National TOBA Awards

Harry Mangurian has been named breeder of the year, and Frank Stronach owner of the year, by the Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association. The award winners for 2000 were named Sept. 7 during TOBA's annual awards dinner.

Stronach, whose Magna Entertainment owns eight racetracks, already had been recognized as Kentucky's breeder of the year for 2000. In comments made during the dinner, he said the industry needs racetracks, owners, and breeders to be successful.

Stronach owns Adena Springs Farm near Versailles, Ky., which hosted the TOBA dinner this year. Stronach has won the Eclipse Award for leading owner the past three years.

Mangurian, the national breeder of the year for 1998, also was named Florida breeder of the year for 2000. Mangurian, who has dispersed the breeding stock of his Florida-based Mockingbird Farm, led the national list of breeders by earnings last year.
