Miss Indiana, who races in the colors of Keith Asmussen and country music star George Strait's Ocean Front Property, will look to keep her perfect record intact as the possible favorite in a field of nine juvenile fillies slated to contest the grade III $100,000 Arlington-Washington Lassie Saturday at Arlington Park.
A daughter of Clever Trick, Miss Indiana has made two starts in her brief career. The Steve Asmussen-trained filly broke her maiden by a nose at first asking at Keeneland April 11 and returned 4 1/2 months later to post a 3 1/2 length score in a first-level allowance race at Saratoga August 29. Shane Laviolette is named to ride Miss Indiana for the first time in the Lassie.
Slated to face Miss Indiana are: Brief Bliss (Corey Lanerie); Don't Ruffle Me, (Frank Lovato Jr.); First Again (Larry Sterling Jr.); Glenbriar Girl (Ray Sibille); Joanies Bella (Marlon St. Julien); Leeward City (Zoe Cadman); Lemon Haze, (Eusebio Razo Jr.); and Vicki Vallencourt (Rene Douglas).
