"Our employees dug deep and gave generously to help fellow Americans in need, and I am touched by their strong desire to respond to this national tragedy."The employee contributions were collected Sept. 12-21. The company employs about 1,100 full-time employees nationwide.
Churchill Downs Inc. will contribute $69,103.28 to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund to benefit the victims of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks in the U.S.The $69,103.28 donation is comprised of employee contributions from the company's six racetracks and nine off-track betting facilities in Kentucky, California, Florida, Illinois, and Indiana. The contributions were matched, dollar-for-dollar, by the company.Funds donated by Churchill Downs Inc. will be earmarked for victims of the attacks on New York City, Washington, D.C., and Pennsylvania, as well as their families.
