Pedigree Analysis for Noverre

Godolphin's Noverre is currently favored for the Breeders' Cup Mile (gr. IT) by Coral Eurobet at 7-1, but he will have to win the race by a dozen lengths and do a pirouette on the winning post to become a more famous Breeders' Cup horse than his half-brother Arazi. Their dam, Danseur Fabuleux, foaled a colt by Blushing Groom in 1989 who went on to win the Juvenile (gr. I) at Churchill Downs two years later in one of the most memorable World Thoroughbred Championships races ever.

Trained for Allen Paulson in France by the late Francois Boutin, Arazi started favorite for the Juvenile and went by second-favorite Bertrando as if he were tied to the rail approaching the top of the stretch. He drifted very wide on the home turn with Pat Valenzuela hanging on for dear life, failed to change leads once in the stretch but still ran away to a near five-length victory as the crowd gasped.

Arazi was a champion in Europe and America, winning 9 of his 13 starts. Noverre is the only other stakes winner out of winless Danseur Fabuleux, placed in the Group III Prix de Minerve in France. She has produced nine foals in all, seven to race from which have come six winners.

Noverre's sire, Rahy, sent champion Serena's Song to the Breeders' Cup three times, but her best finishes came in the 1994 Juvenile Fillies (gr. I) and '96 Distaff (gr. I) when she was second. From ten BC runners, Rahy has yet to win a race but the son of Blushing Groom has a double dip this year at Belmont Park. As well as being represented by Noverre (eleventh to Macho Uno in the Juvenile last year), Fantastic Light, fifth in last year's Turf (gr. IT) and recent conqueror of Galileo in the Irish Champion Stakes (Ire-I), will turn out for Godolphin in the Classic.
