"She'll be all set for the Breeders' Cup (Juvenile Fillies, gr. I)," said Frankel. "Hopefully, she'll come into the Breeders' Cup the same way she did here."Two-year-old You (You and I--Our Dani, by Homebuilder) earned $300,000 for the win. In her most recent start prior to the Frizette, You defeated Cashier's Dream by a neck in the 6 1/2-furlong Adirondack Stakes (gr. II), avenging a three-length defeat to that rival in a Churchill Downs allowance race in June. Dolphus C. Morrison bred her in Kentucky.Sent off as the 7-5 second choice, You returned $4.80, $2.40, and $2.10. Cashier's Dream paid $2.40 and $2.10. Riskaverse returned $2.10. The winning exacta combination paid $7.80. (Chart, Equibase)
Edmund A. Gann's You dueled with Cashier's Dream around the turn, then pulled clear in the stretch to win the $500,000 Frizette Stakes (gr. I) at Belmont Park. The win improves You's career mark to three wins from four starts and gave trainer Bobby Frankel is 12th grade I win of the year.Cashier's Dream set the early pace under pressure from You, then repulsed an early challenge from that rival on the backstretch. You came on again as they raced on even terms around the sweeping turn, with the rest of the field several lengths back. Once in the stretch, Cashier's Dream began to tire as You poured it on, winning by 6 1/4 lengths at the wire while completing the 1 1/16 miles in 1:43.94 on a fast track. Cashier's Dream finished second, 9 1/4 lengths ahead of Riskaverse. Treasure Coast (11 lengths farther back) and Cherokee Girl (18 lengths behind Treasure Coast) completed the order of finish."I stayed where I wanted to with her; I bided my time," said winning jockey Edgar Prado. "When we got toward the stretch, I just wanted to be sure that no one was chasing us. She was going nice and easy. We now know that a distance is no problem for her. The main thing was to get her to relax, and that was no problem, today."
