The "Horseman of the Year Award" honors an outstanding individual in the Thoroughbred industry. It is presented by the Kentucky Thoroughbred Owners.
Jennie Rees, racing writer for the Louisville Courier-Journal, has been named the Warner L. Jones Jr. "Horseman of the Year." Rees will accept the award Nov. 17 during a dinner at the Kentucky Derby Museum at Churchill Downs.Rees, a native of Lexington, has covered horse racing since 1983. She became the Courier-Journal's first full-time racing beat writer in 1986. Rees, a two-time Eclipse Award winner, is a founding director and current president of Kentucky Thoroughbred Media and vice president of the National Turf Writers Association.
