Darley plans to announce a fee for millionaire Fantastic Light following Saturday's Breeders' Cup at Belmont Park.
Sheikh Mohammed's Darley Stud Management announced 2002 fees for 25 of its 26 stallions, and not unexpectedly some will be going down and some up. The outfit's highest-priced stallion, Machiavellian, had his fee increased for £60,000 to £80,000, and another heavyweight, Halling will be going up from £15,000 to £30,000. Both stallions stand at Dalham Hall Stud near Newmarket, England. Downward fees include the one for Singspiel, from £20,000 to £15,000."The world has changed and so have we," said Sam Bullard, head of nominations. "Our message is clear: Darley's commitment to the business interests of mare owner is absolute, and we're bringing down the cost of breeding so that mare owners who are producing high-class horses can thrive."
